Company structures, commonly used by foreign investors in Turkey, and business organizations available to foreigners, are:

Limited Liability Companies (and anonymous companies) There are two main types of legal entities: Limited Sirket (limited company) and Anonim Sirketi (anonymous company). They have the same establishment procedures such as registration with the trade registry and publication in the Trade Registry Gazette. The directors of the company and any changes in the articles of association are also published. Anonymous companies are the widely preferred types of legal entity. For banks, financial leasing companies and some other specific fields of activity, this type is required. Anonymous companies are also used to place capital with the public through the stock exchange or otherwise.

Two new projects will support Turkey’s clean energy goals

USTDA (United States Trade and Development Agency) announced two activities to support Turkey’s efforts to develop new sources of clean and efficient energy.

USTDA signed a grant with Hema Natural Energy Resources Company to evaluate the critical aspects of a combined coal bed methane (CBM) extraction and power generation project at Hema’s coalfield. The $449,960 grant is expected to support over $150 million in new business opportunities in Turkey, as well as create 800 to 1,000 local jobs. Using technology for CBM extraction that is brand new to Turkey, the project will provide an additional source of power to meet the the country’s increasing energy needs.

APLF (Asia Pacific Leather Fair) will hold their annual spring trade fairs focusing on the leather and fashion industries from March 28-30, 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Turkey, a major player in the global leather industry, will be the focus country for APLF 2012. ‘We expect a record number of Turkish tanneries in their pavilion for the APLF 2012,’revealed Lemi Tolunay, President of Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters’ Association and Turkish Leather Council. ‘The Turkish leather sector is an important player in the global leather industry, with a focus on design, innovation and quality production, we are excited to showcase these strengths,’ he added.

Turkey’s exports reached $10.72 billion in September with a 16.4% increase compared to September 2010, according to Turkish Exporters’ Assembly ( TIM).

The volume of exports in the first nine months of the year increased 21.7%  to $99.45 billion, and the volume of exports in the last twelve months increased 18.83% to $131.622 billion.

Turkey-US Economic Partnership Commission 7th Meeting

The two delegations agreed to meet again next year in the United States.

Representatives from Turkey and the United States of America met on October 3 in Ankara for the seventh Turkey and United States Economic Partnership Commission (EPC). The meeting supports the common vision to develop a strategic economic partnership in line with the already strong political and military bilateral relations. The EPC is a key component of strengthening the economic partnership between Turkey and the United States, as outlined in the Turkey-US Framework for Strategic Economic and Commercial Cooperation.
